What is Sports Therapy?
Sports therapy focuses on injury prevention and rehab, helping people get their bodies to perform at optimum levels of function and sports specific fitness. It utilises a variety of therapies that help restore the body, allowing athletes to return to sport sooner without ongoing injury and further harm.
Sports injuries can occur from failing to warm up properly, overuse and pushing the body too hard or suffering an accident whilst playing or training. Casual fitness enthusiasts and team sports participants often succumb to sporting injuries, so an assessment and active treatment plan helps them prevent further injury, improve technique and return to training.
Sports therapy treatments may include a variety of techniques to relieve pain and promote a faster recovery including massage, mobilisation, hot/cold treatment, stretching, exercise therapy and taping.
We have successfully treated a number of people who do solo sport such as joggers and runners, cross fit, tennis, cycling or weight lifters as well as team sports like lacrosse, AFL, soccer and netball. You can read more about our experience and specialities here.

What Can I Expect from Sports Therapy?
During an initial consultation, we will collect a detailed medical history including any history of previous sporting injuries. A physical examination will then follow so can make an assessment about the type of injury, it’s severity and how best to treat it.
Depending on the type and nature of the injury, ongoing rehabilitation may be required until you return to optimum performance. We will oversee your recovery and provide you with information and exercises that you can use at home to assist with healing. We will also be able to provide you with information on how to prevent future injuries.
