What is an Osteopath?

An Osteopath is trained to treat the whole body as a unit, using a holistic approach to treat injury, manage pain, improve health, mobility and wellbeing, and prevent disease.

Osteopathy is a non-invasive, hands-on treatment using techniques like stretching and mobilisation, dry needling, joint articulation, massage and spinal and joint manipulation.

What does an Osteopath do?

Osteopaths treat a variety of complaints, conditions and injuries that relate to the spine, muscles and tendons. These are all common conditions that our Osteopaths can treat.

  • Neck, back and shoulder pain
  • Stiff, strained or sprained muscles
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Sciatica and nerve conditions
  • Knee pain, hip pain or shoulder pain
  • Frozen shoulder and bursitis
  • Tennis elbow

How can an Osteopath help you?

Many conditions are lifestyle related. We talk to you about your work, stress levels, exercise regime and overall well being, to help get to the root of your pain or discomfort. We then use a variety of techniques including:

  • Massage
  • Spine and neck adjustments
  • Mobility assessments
  • Dry needling
  • Exercise rehab

Most patients will experience improvement after a couple of treatments, but more chronic conditions may take more time. We will also provide you with exercises and stretches to complete between appointments.

Our registered Osteopaths are ready to help you feel better today:

Osteopath v Physio v Chiropractor

All three are regulated hands-on Allied health professionals that deal with the whole body.

Chiropractors primarily diagnose and treat back pain. Treatment may include manipulation, massage and advice on maintaining good posture and ergonomics.

Physiotherapists study the structure of the human body and its movement. Typically, they take a musculoskeletal approach to treatment, using various techniques and prescribing exercise programs to alleviate symptoms.

Osteopaths take a whole-of-body approach to wellness. We believe there’s a musculoskeletal link to many conditions, and hands-on treatments using techniques like stretching, mobilisation, massage and dry needling are very effective in reducing pain and improving wellbeing.
